Let us recite Al-Fatihah to Allahyarham Mohd Azamir bin Mokhtar(1989-2009), a former player of JUPAN FC, who was just passed away last Sunday, 22nd of March. He drowns at sea during his field trip. He was a first year second semester Civil Engineering student, really active student and loves football very much. May God bless his soul.

Preview Week 5

Friday, March 13, 2009

Sorry for the late update for Week 5. Here's a short preview of the match and the prediction has been made by Arema FC's former manager, Abdul Rahman Mohd Norahim

Match 25: Onitsuka Tiger vs Ozawa Dragons

Can we say this is a sure win for Onitsuka Tiger? Onitsuka Tiger only needed a win to secure their spot in the quarter finals. As for Ozawa Dragons, let's hope that not another goal fest would not go against them again.

Prediction: Onitsuka Tiger will secure their spot in the quarter finals with the score of  3-0.

Match 26: Urawa Reds vs Facebook FC

It's Do-or-Die for both teams. Urawa Reds need to win this match to shut down Facebook FC challenge. As for Facebook FC, they also need to win to shut down Urawa Reds and Borneo FC chances to win. Anything may go either side in this tight match-up, considering the solid performance of both teams so far.

Comparing to their matches against Onitsuka Tiger, both ended with a draw. So, it would be a match to watch

Prediction: Too hard to predict this. Urawa FC 1-1 Facebook Fc.

Match 27: Ace vs Who

WHO needed a win to open their chances to qualify for the next round. Ace, shocked from a 4-0 rejuvenated comeback by Azzuri, needed a win to stay in contention for the spot in quarter finals. Judging from the gameplay of both teams, it looks like the advantage might favor WHO

Prediction: WHO would win this match with the score of 2-1.

Match 28: Nagasakti vs Apocalypto

Both teams are still in contention for the quarter-final spot. Nagasakti must win in order to qualify. Not forgetting Apocalypto who also needed a win to ensure their march continues after losing to Croconile (2-0)

Prediction: A tight match, but still Apocalypto to win 2-1.

Match 29: Gen 06 vs Jupan FC

Gen 06 looking for a win after they managed to make a lockdown draw on Avatar. However they should not underestimate Jupan FC eventhough Jupan FC lost their previous two matches to Avatar (0-4) and Aurora FC (1-3).

Banking on their talismanic striker, Habil, Jupan are trying to steal some points from Gen 06

Prediction: Gen 06 will continue their demolition with the score of 4-1

Match 30: Azzuri vs Rajawali

Both teams will have their last match in group A.

Azzuri needs to win in order to ensure their hopes on qualification still alive. However, they have to ask favor from teams such as Ace to stop WHO from winning. If WHO wins against Ace, that might the end of the champions journey

As for Rajawali, this can be described as play for fun game as they have already out of the contention for the top two spots as they lost the last three matches to Ace (2-3), WHO (0-3) and Galacticos (0-1)

Prediction: Azzuri would grab all three points with the score of 2-1.

Latest Results: Week 4

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Sorry for a very late update. Internet have been sucks big time and I have a lot of difficulties to update the results.

Anyway, as usual 6 matches have been played last week. However, matches between Gen 06 vs Aurora and Galacticos vs Ace has been postponed to heavy rain. The organizers are currently discussing about the options for a replacement date and it's rumoured to be held on next Wednesday, 18 March 2009

Onitsuka Tiger fails to repeat the same episode just like last year when they only managed to get a draw against Facebook FC with the score of 0-0

Croconile are now a step closer to the quarter finals after beating Nagasakti 2-1.

Borneo FC has launched complete destruction on Ozawa Dragons after Borneo defeated Ozawa with the score of 8-0. A similar score was recorded last year when Nissa FC defeated Evonergy.

Avatar can consider themselves virtually qualified for a spot after beating Rasta 4-0. Last year, Avatar beat Rasta with the score of 1-0

And here's the latest standings for now:-

Group A

There is no changes since Galacticos vs Ace has been postponed to a later date.

Group B

Avatar tops the table with 7 points with one more match which is against Aurora.

Aurora, second with 4 points, needs to rely on their matches against Gen 06 and Avatar to keep their hopes alive.

Gen 06 quest is still wide open with 1 points, with 3 matches to go, against Aurora, Jupan FC and Rasta.

Rasta, fourth with 1 point hoping to steal points from matches against Jupan FC and Gen 06.

Jupan FC have to win their remaining matches against Rasta and Gen 06 to keep their hopes alive

Group C

Croconile went to the top with 6 points, with 2 matches left, against Evo and Sona

Sona followed in 2nd place with 4 points, with 2 matches left, against Croconile and Apocalypto

Apocalypto, whisked in the third place with 3 points, also with 2 matches left, against Sona and Nagasakti

Evo, currently in 4th place with 1 point, have to win their remaining matches against Croconile and Nagasakti to keep their race on.

Nagasakti is still not out from contention, with 2 more matches against Apocalypto and Evo

Group D

I need a calculator for this. This will be the most confusing calculation since it involves 4-way race.

Currently we have 3 teams who only have 1 more match, Onitsuka Tiger, Facebook FC and Borneo FC. But for this week, I would only take account of Onitsuka Tiger and Facebook FC, since they have their match this week

Onitsuka Tiger - They must win against Ozawa Dragons to ensure their place in the quarter finals. However, after looking back at Ozawa Dragons' performance, this might be an easy job for them

Facebook FC - While Tigers have an easy job, Facebook will have an Italian job. As their opponent would be the formidable Urawa Reds which only have 3 more matches to go. The odds are currently against Facebook FC as they HAVE to win to ensure their qualification for the quarter finals.

HOWEVER, if BOTH TEAMS (Onitsuka Tiger and Facebook FC) wins against their opponents  this week, that's solves the complicated riddle as both teams would have 8 points, shutting other teams' chances to qualify.

So, here's the next round-up of Week 5. We might have the first team to qualify. So, till we meet again with the preview of Week 5

Preview Week 4

Friday, March 6, 2009

For this week's preview, I have invited the manager of Urawa Reds, Ahmad Loqman to give his views and insights about the upcoming matches.

Match 19: Facebook FC vs Onitsuka Tiger

The meeting of two top teams from group D. Last match seems to bolster Onitsuka route in qualifying to the latter stage. This time Facebook FC are waiting to be tested. With both teams haven’t lost their matches, the race to be grabbing the group leading chart. For Facebook FC, this game is the chance for them to get through the quarter final after 2 seasons drought.

Prediction: The Facebook FC will make it 2-1.

Match 20: Nagasakti vs Croconile

Newcomers for this season, Nagasakti will try to be at their best after losing their first match. Although the second match will never be easier, against the crocodiles of Nile will require them a lot of physical endurances and good chemistry.

Prediction: It is too good to lose. Nagasakti 0-3 Croconile.

Match 21: Aurora vs Gen 06

After a convincing win in their 2nd game, Aurora seems to be ready to face Gen-06. A win will ensure them a step nearer to the quarter final. All of it will ensure be relied on Shaiful Izzuan, their top scorer so far. For Gen-06, another potential team might feel unlucky not to win against Avatar in their 1st match. Hopefully this time will encourage them to sharpen their finishing in searching for goals as well as to win.

Prediction: Gen-06 will grab those points 2-1.

Match 22: Galacticos vs Ace

The only team with clean wins, Galacticos, with surely make this meeting as important as the previous 2 in order to grab the top spot. After a shocking win against Azzuri and another one with Rajawali, will be a pretty motivation for to grab another win. However, the race in this group is still open. Ace can make level if they win the game and surely will use the advantage of their frontline in Asyraf Ja’afar. Their only threat is their defense.

Prediction: A tight match, but still Galacticos to win 3-1.

Match 23: Borneo FC vs Ozawa Dragons

Borneo FC vs Ozawa Dragon is a meeting for two newcomers in the season and both teams have yet to score a goal. Two league matches will be good experience as the Borneos are preparing to find their chemistry in game. Differ with Borneo FC, a big loss to Facebook FC will not let Ozawa down.

Prediction: This match will be a possible stage for them to prove something. No draw for this week and a win to Borneo FC 1-0.

Match 24: Rasta vs Avatar

Rasta will look to have a little bit nervous when meeting this season favorite team, Avatar. A draw performance in their previous game is still not convincing enough to get them to the next stage. This team must need something different to beat Avatar. For Avatar, they will surely need to win after almost beaten by Gen-06.

Prediction: All points to Avatar 3-1.

Scorers Recap

Thursday, March 5, 2009

After 18 matches, 2009 season of UTP Soccer League has accumulated about 47 goals which the rate of 2.61 goals per match.

However, the total goals can be considered as low, if compared to 2007 season, where 80 goals where scored in the same time range. I forgot about the 2008 season goal rate since I misplaced the files.

It's a good sign that teams' defensive line have been formidable which most of the results this season are quite close between two teams.

So, here's the topscorer list until Week 3.

Anyway, next up is the preview of Week 4. So, stay tuned

Galacticos rose to their second win in a row after beating Rajawali 1-0, based on the unofficial result.

Evo and Sona have their honours even after they draw 1-1. Both goals are coming from a long range shot which being not carefully taken by the goalkeepers.

Group B

It still early to figure out as Avatar and Aurora leads with 4 points but Avatar leads with goal difference, followed by Gen 06 and Rasta with 1 point and Jupan FC with 0 point.

Group C

All teams still have the chance to qualify for the next round. Sona leads with 4 points from 2 games, followed by Croconile and Apocalypto with 3 points but Croconile leads by goal difference, Evo with 1 point and Nagasakti with 0 point.

Preview Week 3

Thursday, February 26, 2009

It seems that since we've been waiting for full results from the organizer on Week 2 matches. Unfortunately, since the organizers failed to provide any official scores and details about Week 2 matches, we shall proceed with the prediction for Week 3.

Week 3 can be considered as the do-or-die match for some teams such as Azzuri and Rajawali as they will be having their THIRD match this week. One wrong move could be the end of their quest, especially for Azzuri who are desperately to defend their title.

Match 13: Jupan FC vs Aurora

Jupan FC can try to make some amendments to their team after 4-0 crushing by Avatar. Since that's their first game, maybe they are not used to the chemistry of the team.

As for Aurora, a draw against Rasta has open up their chances to qualify for the next round. However, any upset could happen in football

Prediction: A win to Aurora (2-1)

Match 14: Ozawa Dragons vs Facebook FC

Ozawa Dragons, made up at the last minute is trying to make an impact in UTP League. Not an affiliate to Onitsuka Tigers, they are facing Facebook FC, who were handed a shocking draw against Borneo FC

As for Facebook FC, the lack of attacking option could pose problems to the team as they need to bolster it before it's too late

Prediction: A win to Facebook FC (3-1)

Match 15: Onitsuka Tiger vs Borneo FC

Onitsuka Tiger are trying to overcome their disappointment against Urawa Reds as they are going to face Borneo FC. However, they will be going into the match without Muhammad Azlan Mas'od who was being red-carded last match.

For Borneo FC, a draw against Borneo FC could be a boost of confidence to them. A mixture of experienced and young players, this might be a match to watch

Prediction: A win to Onitsuka Tiger (2-1)

Match 16: Ace vs Azzuri

Azzuri are looking for a win to ensure that their quest to defend the title still alive. This is a do-or-die situation for them as they have to win their remaining matches to ensure that they still have the chance to qualify.

However, Ace which is fresh from their remarkable comeback to a 3-2 win against Azzuri are looking forward to end Azzuri's defense once and for all.

Based on the talkback on UTPLeague chatbox, most people think that Azzuri haven't reached their full potential yet. Let's wait and see whether their words are true or else.

Prediction: After looking at Azzuri's training preparation, I would doubt that Azzuri still have the potential to give Ace a run for their money. A draw for Azzuri (1-1)

Match 17: Rajawali vs Galacticos

Rajawali are also looking for a win after losing their previous two matches, to Ace (2-3) and WHO (0-3). However, it is doubt whether the morale of the players are still at the desirable level after losing those matches.

Galacticos have been bashed from all sides after their recent claims of becoming the next champion after beating Azzuri in the muddy field (2-1). However, according to their source, Galacticos have been hit with the injury of their three players. It is not known whether they will be in full strength on this match.

Prediction: Galacticos would be fired up after winning. A win to Galacticos (2-0)

Match 18: Evo vs Sona

Evo are trying to recover from a 2-0 loss against Apocalypto. It is heard that the team would be making some tactical changes after some missed golden chances while playing against Apocalypto.

As for Sona, the win against Nagasakti FC (2-1) could provide a boost to them as they are looking a chance to qualify to the knockout round for the first time in their final season of UTP League.

Prediction:Advantage to Sona since their moral is still high. A win to Sona (3-1)

Anyway, this is just a prediction from UTPLeague. If you have your thought about your prediction, send us your prediction to utpleague@gmail.com

See you tomorrow night for latest updates of Week 3 of UTP Soccer League 2009!

Preview Week 2

Friday, February 20, 2009

The battle continues for the spot in knockout round as 12 teams will square off against each other in Week 2. Let's take a look on the matches and prediction.

Match 7: Sona vs Nagasakti FC

Sona is back with the new spirit after gaining some good experience on two previous seasons. They are facing a new team, Nagasakti FC, which is formerly known as Cantana. It is not known about the strength of Nagasakti FC, but it would surely a puzzle to solve for Sona and other teams in Group C

Prediction: Experience does matters. A win to Sona. 3-1

Match 8: Onitsuka Tiger vs Urawa Reds FC

The most awaited match of all. The runner-up of 2008 versus the semi-finalist of 2007. The Tigers have fully reinforced their team after their final heartbreak by adding some strikeforce. However, their preparations were hampered with injuries to Enzo and talismanic striker, Topek and the defender Bean, leaving the player-manager, Ahmad Sollehin limited choices for the team.

As for Urawa Reds FC, their preparations is also on halt with the rumoured knee injury of their left-back, Muhammad Noor Fadhli. However, with some additions to the team, they would not be a pushover to the Tigers.

Prediction: Too close to call. A tough fight. 1-1 draw

Match 9: Galacticos vs Azzuri

The Galacticos finally can test up themselves whether they can cope without the help of Apocalypto when they face the Champions, Azzuri.

As for Azzuri, another draw in this match would give them a devastating blow to their defence of the title.

Prediction: I think it would be another draw for Azzuri. 2-2

Match 10: Gen 06 vs Avatar

Another awaited battle where two fast-paced teams will test out each other in Group B

Avatar, fresh from their demolition of Jupan FC with 4-0 score, are ready to terrorize Gen 06 defensive line. Led by their captain, Mohd Ridzwan Mohd Hanaffi, Avatar would be more than ready for another onslaught for another victim.

However, as for Gen 06, they won't simply give a pushover to Avatar, as they have Syed Mohd Amin, as their strike force to tore down Avatar's defensive line.

Prediction: Both teams played fast and speed game. However, it would be more favoured on Avatar due to their experience. A 2-1 win to Avatar

Match 11: Croconile vs Apocalypto

A match that wants to be avoided as possible by any teams.

Croconile, with the bad reputation that tarnish UTP League last season, might making some omen to mend their temperament when they face Apocalypto on Sunday. It is not known about their strategy, however, the lack of speed might be a big disadvantage despite their physical advantage

Apocalypto, fresh from their win of Evo with 2-0 score, are facing some last-minute injuries, especially their left-back, Zainal Abidin and their midfielder, Mohd Ehsan Sharmin who has been ruled out for this match

Prediction: Croconile would have to buck up their speed or they are on their way to be beaten by quick wingers and fast-attacking football by Apocalypto. A win 2-0 win to Apocalypto.

Match 12: WHO vs Rajawali

Both teams have almost similar fate as their luck was robbed at the last minute of the game.

WHO was robbed from their victory by the last minute goal against Azzuri, while Rajawali, totally lost all points in the space of 5 minutes to ACE.

On Sunday, both teams are trying to make some points here. Losing this match would virtually close their chances to qualify for the next round.

Prediction: WHO is much improving compared to last two seasons, but Rajawali have the same strength as they play precision football. A 1-1 draw.

Week 1: Who Ties Azzuri, Avatar Roars, Rajawali Got ACEd

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

UTP Soccer League 2009 kicks off with tales of surprises and upsets. 6 matches were being played last week with 2 matches from Group A & B and 1 match from Group C and D

On Friday, Azzuri got an early wake-up call as the champions were only handed a point after drawing with WHO FC with the score of 1-1. Trailed behind during the first half by a goal from Ahmad Izzat, Azzuri needed a last-gasp minute by Marut Damkaew to score, leaving WHO FC missing their lost two points in the last minute.

On the same day, Facebook FC also being handed a shock after drew 0-0 with the newcomer, Borneo FC. Despite a lot of attacks being launched by the Eastenders, they failed to break the goal post, safeguarded by 46-year-old veteran, Badarolzaman Ramli. Hilary Stephen also being influential in making attacks for Borneo FC, only to have Badarolzaman to stop his efforts.

On Saturday, the battle of the July 06 batch pits Apocalypto FC and Evo FC. All emotions of friendship were being put behind as both teams going for a win. Apocalypto leads in the 5th minute by a superb free-kick by Mohd Farhan Hafizuddin. Evo FC also managed to get some close chances when Hafreez Aizat and Amirul Asraf was not being marked, only to find defenders to stop them. Muhammad Muaz ends Evo's fairytale with 2nd goal, ending the match with 2-0 to Apocalypto.

Meanwhile, Avatar sends a strong warning to other teams that they are ready to take the title after demolishing Jupan FC 4-0. Despite Jupan FC's strong efforts to prevent the flash attack of Avatar players, it seems that Avatar is no match to Jupan. Syed Aminuddin which was bought from Golden Nugget leads the Avatar destruction with 2 goals to his name, and Muhammad Sholeh and Mohd Hazizuddin netted one each.

On Sunday, ACE staged a great comeback after coming from behind to defeat Rajawali 3-2. After being level 1-1 during half time, Rajawali takes the lead after a free kick being blocked by the keeper and Mohd Shaiful Anuar manages to squeeze in the ball through the net. 5 minutes before the end, ACE strikes back with a marvellous chip from Asyraf bin Ja'afar. As it seems a draw for both teams, a defensive blunder costs dearly for Rajawali as Quailid Rezza comes from bench to strike a goal in the last minute, giving them all three points with the score of 3-2

On the other action, Damotheran's unexpected transfer to Azzuri doesn't prevent Rasta to perform on their usual form. Facing Aurora FC, Rasta managed to get a draw against the new rejuvenated team with the score of 1-1. Rasta's goal was scored by Haridass while Mohd Shaifful Izzuan puts the goal for Aurora

With the end of the first week, the fight for the top two spots seems too close to call. Below is the tables, top scorers and the next fixtures for Week 2.

Till then, we see you again with the next update on Week 2.

Preview Week 1

Friday, February 13, 2009

After all trainings, friendly matches and some injuries that disrupt the teams' preparation for 2009 season, the season's kick-off is just hours away from now.

Anyway, for this week's review, Mr. Asyraf Fadzlee @ TPK, 07' & 08' season organizer who is now the player-manager of Evo to give his preview about all teams for this week matches

Hello guys, it's been a long time since last season made its curtain call with Azzuri retaining their title after beating Onitsuka Tiger 3-0. Anyway, we would have 12 teams to start the first week of 2009 season including my team as well

Match 1: Azzuri vs W.H.O

It's quite a close call for this match as Azzuri was handed a shock draw with Jupan FC, which is a new team from 90's babies. I don't know from which batch Jupan FC is, but seriously, if Azzuri didn't strengthen their defense and sharpen their attacking options, problems would become worse for the team

As for W.H.O, a one-year break from UTP League hopefully would create a new and rejuvenated W.H.O. Any hopes on them? I still have faith as they are mentally prepared to give their best shot for their final season of UTP League

Player To Watch: Nasmee Samang. This Thai-lad is instrumental for their defeat of Onitsuka Tiger. Playing as a defender but may increase options as a striker, he could give a threat to W.H.O

Mohd Izdan Zulizzi. He's has a reputation in futsal as his team, OmniSlash was previously the champion for MILO Open in 2007. Can he emulate that feat in a big-size scale field?

Prediction: I would call for a draw, but the match would be exciting as expected. 1-1

Match 2: Borneo FC vs Facebook FC

Borneo FC have the potential to give a challenge to other teams in Group D. After a convincing draw with Evo and Galacticos after left behind during the first half, their fightback was simply impressive.

Facebook FC? Formerly known as Staff FC. With Abg Lan is rumoured to not playing with the team anymore, I can't even predict how Mr. Fuad would deal with goalkeeping options. Or maybe those old-timers are playing the psychological warfare against other teams :P

Player To Watch: Hilary Stephen. A Sabahan right-wing performed marvellously during friendly matches and I bet that if he keeps improving, he could become a UTP material in no time

Mohd Fatimie Irzaq Khamis. A goal-scoring machine, but he should beware and hope that no more cards would be given to him this season.

Prediction: Borneo FC is consist of a mixed of new and experienced breed. But Facebook are all old-timers and experienced in football for years. A win to Facebook FC. 2-1

Match 3: Apocalypto  vs Evo

This match would be among the most exciting match, not because one of the teams is my team, it's because the batchmates are facing each other during this match.

Apocalypto is not dead yet eventhough most of their youngsters break-up and create a new team called Galacticos. However, they managed to acquire some good strikers and defenders. Even though, the team seems lack chemistry among themselves.

Evo has underwent massive changes. With some new inclusion of good players, as well as commandable performance against Borneo FC and Rajawali, the only thing that concerns me is their stamina and fitness level

Player To Watch: Mohd Farhan Hafizuddin Abdullah. Known as Badet, his individual skills are outstanding. A dangerous free-kick taker, unfortunately he's lack of speed as he likes to play slow

Mohd Firdaus Rahim. He may be a disadvantage due to his physical size. However, his deadly set-pieces contributes to a lot of goals during friendlies. It's best to avoid free-kicks while he's around

Prediction: I can't avoid the sentiment of batchmates, but a game is a game and both teams have same quality, same strength and same speed as well. Only little luck prevents them from a win. A decent draw. 0-0

Match 4: Avatar vs Jupan FC

Avatar oh Avatar. Some players deserted to Borneo FC including their goalkeeper Pet. With most of players extending their contract for the final year, can they overcome their disappointment due to losing to Rohirrim last season?

As for Jupan FC. Impressive. A draw against Azzuri signals that they could pose a significant threat to other teams in UTP League.

Player To Watch: Mohd Ridzwan Mohd Hanaffi. The talismanic captain of Avatar. Can he control the team and capture the title in third time lucky?

Prediction: A tough fight for both teams, but I have to give a win to Avatar due to their experience in the league. 3-1

Match 5: Rajawali vs ACE

Rajawali can pose a threat to other teams. With the new bloods playing for the first time in the league, plus the physical advantage, they may pose some dangerous threat to other

ACE. The old Equippo Daravoda. Will the name change bring more luck to them, or it's just a change?

Player To Watch: Abdullah Sobri. The former EVO player is known with his individual skills. But can he utilise his individual skills after he fail to do so while with Evo?

Prediction: Let's make it a draw since both teams seems to have equal grounds to compete against each other. 2-2

Match 6: Aurora vs Rasta

Aurora has played what has been declared by their manager, the best first-half performance against Urawa Reds. But, can they repeat their performance against Rasta?

Rasta FC. I don't know how Damo would arrange his team this year as I don't have any infos about performances during friendlies. But hopefully, they have the right players, and right tactics as well

Player To Watch: Mohamad Najib Fathie. The only one who scored for Aurora in UTP League last season. Is he back again to repeat the same feat?

Damotheran. Who else Rasta can rely on other than him? Unless he gets some new back-up after Chandran's graduation, he could be helpless in the middle of the field

Prediction: Aurora is improving at times, but Rasta better keep an eye on the surge. A win to Aurora. 2-1

Ozawa Dragons Filled The Void

Tronoh, PERAK, 13 February 2009 - It is now confirmed that Ozawa Dragons has been picked by UTP Soccer League organizer to replace Nissa FC in the 2009 season.

This news has been confirmed by the organizer through an email to UTPLeague few days ago.

With the inclusion of Ozawa Dragons, this is the second time in a row when a replacement has been called to fill in a slot due to the withdrawal of other teams after Evo was chosen to fill the void last season.

The question is can they avoid the bad luck that Evo endured last season?

UTP Soccer League 2009: Another Group Of Death For Onitsuka Tiger

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Finally the puzzle about the date of first kick-off of UTP Soccer League 2009 has finally being solved, as well as the groupings for 2009 season has been decided last night during the manager's meeting which was held in UTP Co-curriculum Unit.

However, the early shock has been delivered to UTP Soccer League as Nissa FC, last year's semi finalist has announced that they would not taking part in 2009 season. An effort has been made to bring the replacement that will fill in Nissa FC's place.

Onitsuka Tigers, last year's runner-up has been given another torrid time in their quest to seek revenge from Azzuri as they have been placed AGAIN with Staff Facebook FC, formerly known as Staff FC and Urawa FC, 2007 season's semi-finalist in Group D. Another team that also with the teams in the Group of Death is Borneo FC, a new team consist of East Malaysian players. The replacement will soon taking Nissa FC's place in Group D

As for Azzuri, the two-time champions might having lesser problems compared to Onitsuka. Azzuri have been placed alongside W.H.O, Rajawali, Ace and Galacticos. Ace which is formerly known as Equippo Daravoda hoping that their change of name would turn their luck this time. Galacticos, which are the breakway team of Apocalypto might mount serious challenges to Azzuri this year. Rajawali is a new team where their performance are not well known but might create a serious threat to all teams in Group A.

Long-time best performer, Avatar placed themselves in Group B. Waiting them in the group are Jupan FC, Aurora which are formerly known as Arema FC, Gen 06 which would try to overcome their disappointment after being eliminated by Apocalypto United and Rasta is waiting them again, seeking revenge after losing 1-0 in last year's match.

Apocalypto will have their chances hanging in balance as they have been placed in Group C, with most of the seasoned teams, such as Evo, Sona, Croconile and a new team, Cantana. The favourite teams to qualify from Group C are unpredictable as all teams have equal chances to qualify.

Anyway, teams have start their training, friendlies have been planned all over the weekend. What's waiting for these 20 aspiring teams are who will reign supreme in 2009 season

Will Azzuri score a hattrick of titles this season? Or any of the teams can end Azzuri's reign? Might Onitsuka gains revenge after their heartbreak final last season? Or maybe new teams come to the new level and equalling Onitsuka marvellous performance.

All these questions will be answered when UTP Soccer League 2009 kicks off on 13 February 2009. So, for avid fans, get your cheersquad, your banners and make sure your voice are fully energized because all these teams would make you scream out lungs.

See you there on 13 February 2009!

Fadhli Retires As Urawa Reds Manager

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

After 4 years in charge, Muhammad Nor Fadhli Noor Azman or known as Pat announces his retirement as Urawa Reds manager. This news has been confirmed by an official statement made on the club's blog

We are very sad to announce that our long service manager Pat has finally announced his retirement. With another year to go in his contract, Pat made his astonishing decision after almost 4 years in charge of Urawa Reds.

“It’s hard to make this decision. But I need to think about the future of this team by totally focus on playing games” said Pat.

During his in charge of Urawa Reds, we were able to reach quarter final in 2006 and semi final in 2007. Urawa Reds FC are please to have him as our manager and wishing him a very good luck for this coming season

With Pat's retirement, the question of who will replace Pat as the manager of Urawa Reds still plays around the team. Whoever that will replace Pat, he will have a big task to emulate Pat's achievement to reach at least semi final for this year's season.

Rumours being circulated among teams that UTP Soccer League 2009 season will start earlier than expected. It is rumoured that 2009 season will start on 6 February 2009, two weeks after Chines New Year holiday.

If the rumour is true, this can be considered a wake-up call to all teams which haven't started their full training yet this semester. Some teams are scheduled to start their team training after the Chinese New Year holiday.

Meanwhile, the final list of 20 teams that will be competing only will be released after the draw for the groupings have been made, scheduled to be on this week. The list might be different than the posted list few months ago.

More news will be updated from time to time, approaching the kick off of UTP Soccer League 2009.
